Embrace the Glow of Health with Our Ayurvedic Golden Milk Recipe

As we journey through the enriching realm of Ayurveda, we uncover age-old secrets that blend health and taste in the most harmonious ways. One such gem from this ancient Indian science is the 'Golden Milk'—a warm, comforting, and healing beverage that has been revered for centuries.

Today, we're thrilled to share a simple and authentic recipe for this golden delight. Sip it at the end of the day for a restful night's sleep, or enjoy it in the morning to start your day on a soothing note.

 Ayurvedic golden milk

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of milk (dairy or plant-based alternatives such as almond, coconut, or oat milk work beautifully)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • A pinch of black pepper (this enhances the absorption of curcumin from turmeric)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon (optional but adds a lovely flavour)
  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground ginger or a small piece of fresh ginger (optional, for added warmth)
  • 1/4 sppon of cardamon powder or a cardamon pod
  • 1 teaspoon of jaggery or maple syrup (or adjust to taste)
  • A small piece of fresh, peeled turmeric root (optional but highly recommended for enhanced benefits)

Instructions:

  1. Start by pouring your milk of choice into a saucepan. If you have fresh turmeric, grate it directly into the milk. If you're using turmeric powder, hold off on adding it until later.
  2. Add the ground cinnamon and ginger (if you're using these) into the saucepan.
  3. Warm the milk mixture over medium heat until it's hot, but be careful not to let it boil.
  4. If you didn't use fresh turmeric, it's time to add the turmeric powder. Don't forget to also add the pinch of black pepper.
  5. Stir the mixture well until everything is well-blended and the milk has transformed into a uniform golden color.
  6. Lower the heat and let your golden milk simmer for about 10 minutes. This simmering time is crucial as it allows the flavours to meld together beautifully.
  7. If you used fresh turmeric and/or ginger, strain the milk into your favourite cup.
  8. Finally, sweeten your golden milk with honey or maple syrup, adjusting the quantity to suit your taste.

There you have it! Your Ayurvedic Golden Milk is ready to be savoured. Enjoy this soothing drink warm, ideally before bedtime for a peaceful and restful sleep.

This traditional Ayurvedic recipe brings together the perfect blend of taste and health benefits. The black pepper in this recipe is not merely for a hint of spice—it plays a crucial role in aiding the absorption of curcumin, the beneficial compound found in turmeric. So, each time you sip this delightful beverage, you're also absorbing the very best of what turmeric has to offer. Enjoy this golden milk and experience the glow of health and wellness from the inside out!
